A major water leak has led to water interruptions in areas of Shallcross, Klaarwater and Pinetown, in eThekwini Municipality. The municipality says the water interruptions will take a week to repair.
Ethekwini Municipality Communications Mandla Nsele says water tankers will be dispatched to areas affected by the short supply of water while repairs are being conducted.
“As a result of this leak the Shallcross reservoir is battling to fill up – causing a strain on downstream reservoirs. For this reason, a number of areas downstream Shallcross reservoir are already experiencing major outages. Preparations to affect repairs are underway in this major leak. Due to complexity of the site conditions, it is projected that these repairs will take up to a week to effect, hence our water supply will be fully restored on the 30th of July.”
